Where is Kandima?
Kandima is located in the pristine Dhaalu Atoll, approximately 170 kilometres south of Velana International Airport. Surrounded by turquoise lagoons and tropical scenery, the resort offers convenient access while allowing guests to experience the tranquillity of one of the Maldives' beautiful southern atolls.
Transfers from Velana International Airport
All transfers from Velana International Airport to Kandima are arranged by the resort in partnership with Manta Air. Upon arrival, friendly airport hosts will be waiting at the arrival gate to welcome guests, assist with luggage and guide them to the appropriate transfer terminal. From check-in to boarding, every step is carefully coordinated, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the start of their holiday.
Guests can choose between two transfer options:
- Seaplane transfer: Approximately 40 minutes
- Domestic flight and speedboat transfer: Approximately 35 minutes by domestic flight, followed by a 15-minute speedboat ride
Both options offer a comfortable and convenient journey to the resort.

One of the most memorable ways to reach Kandima is by seaplane. The approximately 40-minute flight offers breathtaking aerial views of coral reefs, turquoise lagoons and tiny tropical islands scattered across the Indian Ocean, creating an unforgettable introduction to the Maldives.
Flights may include brief stopovers at neighbouring islands before arriving in Dhaalu Atoll. Seaplanes operate during daylight hours and are scheduled to connect with international arrivals wherever possible.
As seaplane operations depend on weather conditions, departure times may occasionally vary. Throughout the journey, Kandima's team remains on hand to provide updates, assistance and support, ensuring guests are well looked after every step of the way. For the journey, it is recommended to keep essentials such as sunglasses, light clothing, a camera and personal belongings within easy reach, as the panoramic views are simply spectacular.
Domestic Flight and Speedboat Transfer
For guests arriving outside seaplane operating hours or those who prefer an alternative transfer, Kandima also offers a combination of domestic flight and speedboat.
The journey begins with a 35-minute domestic flight from Velana International Airport to Dhaalu Airport, followed by a comfortable 15-minute speedboat transfer directly to the resort. Just like the seaplane option, Kandima's airport hosts will assist throughout the journey, making every connection effortless.
